Relocating Two 14” Emergency Service Water (ESW) Lines and One 20” Service (SW) Line

ABOUT

The project consisted of relocating two 14” Emergency Service Water (ESW) lines and one 20” Service Water (SW) line at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Forked River, NJ. The ESW lines are classified as Nuclear Safety Related and the SW line is classified as Augmented. All tie-ins for the systems had to be performed during scheduled plant outages, working around the clock. The tie-ins were performed in excavations in excess of 20’ deep, in close proximity of transformers, tanks, buildings, roadways and existing utilities. All work was performed inside the Protected Area of the Plant with some locations inside Radiological Controlled Areas. As a result, all workers received specialized training.
