Upgrade of Two Turbine Sets During Planned Outages
ABOUT
JINGOLI performed baseline planning, estimating, and scheduling for the Unit 3 & 4 Turbine Outage Projects and managed execution in Unit 4. These projects consisted of planned outages in Bruce A Units 3 & 4 to upgrade two Turbine Rotor sets and modify the condensers. Each set contained one high pressure (HP) module and three low pressure (LP) modules. The projects improve the existing unit availability and performance while addressing life-limiting issues to reduce turbine stationary parts’ erosion and increase recommended maintenance intervals.
The work included transportation of the 360,000 lb. rotors, disassembly of the turbine set, cutting the steam lines, removing the existing internals, condenser modifications, reassembly with upgraded rotors with refurbished hardware, and radiological testing, decontamination, and scrap removal.
